Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for the blessing of knowing Jesus Christ and for the good news of the gospel. Thank You that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again so that we may have forgiveness and salvation. Open our hearts and minds today to understand Your Word. Give us courage to share Christ, wisdom to speak with grace, and a heart that cares about those who do not yet know You. May we remember that we are blessed to be a blessing.

IT IS A PRIVILEGE.

ROMANS 1:14 I am under obligation both to Greeks and to barbarians, both to the wise and to the foolish. 15 So, for my part, I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome. 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

There are things in life that are so important and precious that they must be shared. The gospel is one of those things. The word gospel means good news, and the good news is that God has provided salvation through Jesus Christ. When we understand how precious the gospel is and what Jesus has done for us, sharing Christ becomes not only a responsibility but also a privilege. Many of us are reluctant to share because we fear rejection, we are afraid that we will not know what to say, or we are afraid of being embarrassed. But when we personally encounter Jesus and truly understand His grace, our attitude changes. When we fall in love with Jesus, we will naturally want to talk about Jesus. The gospel because is not merely information or human advice; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.

1 CORINTHIANS 15:1 Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received, in which also you stand, 2 by which also you are saved, if you hold fast the word which I preached to you, unless you believed in vain.

The gospel is something we receive, something in which we stand, and something by which we are saved.

1 CORINTHIANS 15:3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4 and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

This is the heart of the gospel: Christ died for our sins, He was buried, and He was raised again. Jesus died on the cross in our place because there is no other way for our sins to be forgiven apart from His sacrifice. He was buried, demonstrating that He truly died, but He rose again, demonstrating that He conquered death and confirming that He is the Savior, the Son of God. Therefore, the gospel is not simply a message telling us to become better people. It is the good news of what Jesus Christ has already done for sinners. We have received this precious message, and because we have received it, we are called to pass it on. To truly believe the gospel is not merely to acknowledge facts about Jesus; genuine faith produces a life that responds to Jesus in obedience. We are blessed by receiving the gospel, and we become a blessing when we share that gospel with others.

IT IS A RESPONSIBILITY.

EZEKIEL 33:7 “Now as for you, son of man, I have appointed you a watchman for the house of Israel; so you will hear a message from My mouth and give them warning from Me. 8 When I say to the wicked, ‘O wicked man, you will surely die,’ and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require from your hand.

A watchman is entrusted with an assignment. When he sees danger, he must warn the people. If he refuses to warn them, he is accountable for his failure to speak. But if he faithfully gives the warning and the people refuse to listen, the watchman has fulfilled his responsibility. This gives us an important principle about sharing Christ: we are responsible for being faithful, but we are not responsible for changing people's hearts.

EZEKIEL 33:9 But if you on your part warn a wicked man to turn from his way and he does not turn from his way, he will die in his iniquity, but you have delivered your life.

We cannot force anyone to believe. We cannot make someone repent. We cannot control the outcome. Our responsibility is to faithfully communicate what God has entrusted to us. We are His messengers. God loves the world, and He has given us the privilege of telling people about His salvation. Therefore, sharing Christ is a responsibility, but it is also a privilege. Success is not measured by how many people respond positively to our message. Success is defined by faithfulness. We simply need to tell people the truth lovingly, honestly, and clearly, and leave the outcome to God.

ACTS 20:26 Therefore, I testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of all men. 27 For I did not shrink from declaring to you the whole purpose of God.

Being a Christian is not simply about being a good person or doing good things. Certainly, Christians should demonstrate love, kindness, generosity, compassion, and good works. But our good works should point people to Christ. If we help someone, serve someone, or care for someone but never tell them about Jesus, they may see our actions without understanding the reason behind them. We need to demonstrate the gospel through our lives and declare the gospel through our words. Our good works should create opportunities for us to explain the One who has transformed us. We are blessed so that our lives can become a blessing to others, and one of the greatest blessings we can give is the opportunity for someone to hear and understand the good news of Jesus Christ.

BEGIN WITH PRAYER.

COLOSSIANS 4:3 praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; 4 that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.

Sharing Christ begins with prayer. We pray that God will open doors and provide opportunities. We pray that He will give us wisdom and help us explain the gospel clearly. We should not depend merely on our own ability or confidence. We need God's help.

COLOSSIANS 4:5 Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. 6 Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.

Our testimony matters. We should not speak about Christ while living in a way that contradicts Christ. We need to conduct ourselves wisely and make the most of every opportunity God gives us. Our words should be filled with grace, wisdom, truth, and love. Sharing Christ is not about winning arguments or forcing people to believe. It is about lovingly helping people understand the truth. Therefore, we pray for opportunities, live wisely, speak with grace, explain the gospel clearly, and leave the results to God.

WE ARE WITNESSES.

LUKE 24:44 Now He said to them, “These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”

The Law, the Prophets, and the Psalms—the Old Testament Scriptures—were pointing to Jesus. The entire story of Scripture points toward God's plan of salvation fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

LUKE 24:45 Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures,

Although we are called to explain God's Word, ultimately it is God who opens people's minds and hearts to understand.

LUKE 24:46 and He said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ would suffer and rise again from the dead the third day, 47 and that repentance for forgiveness of sins would be proclaimed in His name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem. 48 You are witnesses of these things.

We are witnesses of what Christ has done. We have received the good news, we have experienced God's grace, and we have been entrusted with the privilege of telling others.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for entrusting us with the gospel. Forgive us for the times we have been ashamed, afraid, or hesitant to share Christ. Give us boldness,  wisdom in our conduct, and grace in our words. Open doors for us to share the good news with our family, friends, coworkers, and others around us. Help us to be faithful witnesses, remembering that You alone change hearts and save. May our lives and words point people to Jesus. Use us to be a blessing because we have been blessed by Your grace.
