Opening Prayer
Heavenly Father,
We come before You with humble hearts, acknowledging that You are our Creator, our Savior, and our King. Thank You for Your Word that reveals Your truth and Your love for us. As we begin this discussion, open our minds to understand and our hearts to receive what You want to teach us. Remove any pride or self-reliance within us, and give us a spirit of humility that recognizes our need for You.
Lord Jesus, thank You for Your authority over heaven and earth and for calling us to follow You. Teach us what it truly means to be Your disciples. Help us not only to hear Your Word but to live it out faithfully. Fill us with Your Holy Spirit so that we may grow, be transformed, and become instruments in leading others to You.
Guide our conversation today. May everything we say and reflect on bring glory to You and align with Your will. We entrust this time to You, knowing that apart from You, we can do nothing.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
MATTHEW 28:18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
This passage establishes the foundation of the Christian mission: authority and presence. Jesus does not merely suggest making disciples—He commands it, and that command is grounded in His absolute authority over all creation. The task seems overwhelming because it involves shaping lives to obey everything He taught, something no human effort alone can accomplish. However, the assurance that He is continually present transforms the impossible into something God enables. Discipleship, therefore, is not a human program but a divine partnership where God works through His people to bring others into obedience and relationship with Him.
MARK 1:17 And Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.”
Following Jesus is defined not just as belief, but as transformation. To follow Him means entering a process where one’s identity and purpose are reshaped. The outcome is outward-focused: a genuine follower naturally begins to influence others toward God. This shows that discipleship is reproductive by nature—true connection with Jesus results in a desire and ability to lead others to Him, not through obligation but through changed priorities and heart.
LUKE 19:10 For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
This verse clarifies the mission of Jesus as one centered on restoration. Humanity’s condition is not merely moral weakness but separation from God. Being “lost” implies disconnection from the very source of life. Jesus’ purpose is to bridge that gap, actively pursuing those who are unaware of their need. This reveals that salvation begins with God’s initiative, not human effort, and highlights the urgency of recognizing one’s spiritual condition.
2 THESSALONIANS 1:7… when the Lord Jesus will be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels in flaming fire, 8 dealing out retribution to those who do not know God and to those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. 9 These will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,
This passage shifts the focus from mercy to justice, presenting a future reality where accountability is unavoidable. While Jesus’ first coming emphasizes rescue, His return will reveal His role as judge. The consequence of rejecting God is described not just as punishment but as permanent separation from His presence. This underscores the seriousness of the gospel message and reinforces why responding to it in the present is critical.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the time You have given us to reflect on Your Word. Thank You for reminding us that You are always with us and that You empower us to do what You have called us to do. Help us carry these truths beyond this discussion and apply them in our daily lives.
Lord Jesus, strengthen our commitment to follow You wholeheartedly. Teach us to walk in humility, to depend on Your grace, and to love people as You love them. Give us courage to share the gospel and to make disciples, trusting that You are the One who changes hearts.
Holy Spirit, continue to work in us—transform our thoughts, our desires, and our actions so that we may reflect Christ more and more. Use us for Your purposes, that others may come to know You and be saved.
We commit everything to You, trusting in Your power and Your promises. May our lives bring honor and glory to Your name.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
