Opening Prayer

Heavenly Father,

We come before You with grateful hearts, thanking You for Your love, faithfulness, and constant presence in our lives. Open our minds to understand Your truth and soften our hearts to receive Your Word. Teach us how to hold on to You in the midst of trials and to trust in Your promises.

Lord, when we face difficulties, help us to seek You first. When we feel weak, remind us that Your grace is sufficient. When we are discouraged, strengthen our faith and help us to remember that You are always at work, even when we cannot see it. May Your Holy Spirit help us apply Your Word to our daily lives.

We commit this time to You and ask that You be honored and glorified in all that we say and do.

In Jesus' name we pray,

Amen.

GO TO GOD. Moses brought his struggles and questions to God. When you face difficult times, make God your first refuge and bring everything to Him in prayer.

EXODUS 5

22 Then Moses returned to the Lord and said, “O Lord, why have You brought harm to this people? Why did You ever send me? 23 Ever since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has done harm to this people, and You have not delivered Your people at all.”

Moses brought his confusion and disappointment directly to God instead of turning away in bitterness. His prayer shows that faith does not require pretending that everything is fine; it means bringing our hardest questions to the Lord. When circumstances worsen after we obey God, our first response should be to seek Him, not to abandon Him.

REMEMBER WHO GOD IS. We can stand firm on God's promises because He never fails. When difficulties come, remembering who God is can bring peace to our hearts. Knowing the Problem-Solver is often all we need, for God is faithful to help, sustain, and deliver His people.

EXODUS 6:6 Say, therefore, to the sons of Israel, ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their bondage. I will also redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments. 7 Then I will take you for My people, and I will be your God; and you shall know that I am the Lord your God, who brought you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. 8 I will bring you to the land which I swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and I will give it to you for a possession; I am the Lord.’ ”

God answered Moses by revealing His covenant faithfulness. The focus is not on Israel's strength but on God's character—He acts, He rescues, He redeems, and He fulfills what He has promised. In seasons of uncertainty, remembering who God is becomes the anchor that keeps us from being overwhelmed by the problem in front of us.

HANG IN THERE. The Israelites had suffered for so long that they were becoming weary and impatient, making it difficult for them to hold on to hope. Their pain was real, and their situation was deeply agonizing. In the same way, following God does not guarantee a life free from hardship. Surrendering our lives to Jesus does not make us storm-free, but it does make us storm-proof. The storms may still come, but we do not face them alone. In moments of despair and uncertainty, we cling to Jesus, trusting that He is with us, strengthening us, and carrying us through.

EXODUS 6:9 So Moses spoke thus to the sons of Israel, but they did not listen to Moses on account of their despondency and cruel bondage.

The people could not receive the message because suffering had exhausted them emotionally and spiritually. Their condition reminds us that prolonged hardship can narrow our vision and make hope difficult to grasp. Following God does not remove every storm, but it gives us Someone to hold onto in the storm. Perseverance is often the quiet act of trusting when relief has not yet arrived.

JOHN 10:10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.

Jesus contrasts the destructive work of the enemy with His own life-giving mission. Abundant life is not merely comfort or ease; it is a restored relationship with God, a transformed heart, and the sustaining presence of Christ. Even in trials, believers can experience the fullness of life that comes from Him.

1 PETER :12 Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe them, glorify God in the day of visitation.

Peter teaches that our conduct can become a witness to those who oppose or misunderstand us. When believers respond to pressure with integrity, patience, and love, their actions can point others toward God. Our reaction to suffering may become the very testimony that opens someone's heart to the gospel.

ADMIT INSUFFICIENCY. In times of crisis, the turning point often comes not when our circumstances change, but when we surrender ourselves completely to God and trust Him to take control.

EXODUS 6:28 Now it came about on the day when the Lord spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt, 29 that the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “I am the Lord; speak to Pharaoh king of Egypt all that I speak to you.” 30 But Moses said before the Lord, “Behold, I am unskilled in speech; how then will Pharaoh listen to me?”

Moses' struggle had changed. Earlier he argued with God; now he confessed his inability. This is a significant spiritual shift. God often brings us to the place where we stop relying on our own competence and begin depending on His strength. Honest surrender is not weakness; it is the doorway to deeper trust.

2 CORINTHIANS 12:9 …“My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.”

God's grace is sufficient because His power is most clearly displayed through human weakness. The Christian life is not sustained by self-sufficiency but by divine enablement. When we acknowledge our limitations, we make room for God's strength to work in and through us.

BE AMAZED… BUT DO YOUR PART! As we face life's challenges and trials, we can trust that God will equip us with His power, enabling us to persevere and overcome according to His will.

EXODUS 10:17 Now therefore, please forgive my sin only this once, and make supplication to the Lord your God, that He would only remove this death from me.”

Pharaoh's request for forgiveness reveals that God is able to humble even the most powerful ruler. Human hearts are not beyond God's reach. The Lord can confront pride, expose sin, and bring people to moments of acknowledgment that no human effort could produce on its own.

EXODUS 19:4 ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to Myself.

God reminded Israel that their deliverance was entirely His work. The image of being carried on eagles' wings emphasizes both His power and His care. He did not simply remove them from danger; He brought them to Himself. True rescue is not only freedom from bondage but a relationship with the God who saves.

EXODUS 6

6 Say, therefore, to the sons of Israel, ‘I am the Lord, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their bondage.

EXODUS 7

1 Then the Lord said to Moses, “See, I make you as God to Pharaoh…

God did not merely send Moses; He equipped him for the task. The Lord gave Moses authority and presence before Pharaoh, demonstrating that God supplies what is needed for the assignment He gives. We are called to trust His empowerment rather than our own resources.

EXODUS 7:6 So Moses and Aaron did it; as the Lord commanded them, thus they did.

Moses and Aaron responded with simple obedience. After all the questions, fears, and resistance, they acted on God's command. Faith ultimately becomes visible through obedience. We cannot control the outcome, but we can faithfully do the part God has placed before us.

Closing Prayer

Gracious Father,

Thank You for speaking to us through Your Word. Thank You for reminding us that You are faithful, powerful, and worthy of our trust. Help us to remember that no trial is greater than Your power and no burden is too heavy for Your hands.

Lord, teach us to come to You with our questions, to rely on Your promises, and to surrender our weaknesses to You. Strengthen us to obey You faithfully, even when the path is difficult. Help us to be a testimony to others through our words, actions, and responses to life's challenges.

May we hold on to You in every season, knowing that You are carrying us on eagles' wings and drawing us closer to Yourself. Fill us with Your peace, courage, and hope in the days ahead.

We give You all the praise, honor, and glory.

In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior,

Amen.
