GENESIS 1

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

This declares that before anything existed, God already was. “In the beginning” does not describe God’s beginning—it describes the beginning of everything else. God stands outside of time, space, and matter. He is eternal, self-existent, and uncreated. The name used for God in this verse is ELOHIM, a plural form that reveals God’s majestic fullness and hints at His tri-unity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Though God is one, He is not solitary; He exists in perfect fellowship within Himself. Thus, the universe did not come from chaos or chance, but from the purposeful, powerful, and personal God who has always existed.

Prayer

Almighty and Eternal God,

Before time began, You already were. Before the heavens were stretched out and the earth was formed, You reigned in perfect glory, complete in Yourself. We bow before You, O Elohim—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—the One true God who is eternal, powerful, and unchanging.

Thank You for creating all things with wisdom and purpose. Thank You that our lives are not accidents, but part of Your divine design. Teach us to trust You as the Creator who holds our past, present, and future in Your hands. Help us to walk humbly before You, honoring Your name and living according to Your will.

May our hearts always stand in awe of You, our lives reflect Your glory, and our days be devoted to Your praise. We offer everything we are and everything we have to You.

In the mighty name of Jesus we pray,

Amen.

JOHN 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being.

John opens his Gospel by lifting our eyes beyond time itself and revealing that before anything existed, the Word already was—and that this Word is fully God, yet in perfect fellowship with God. Jesus did not begin at Bethlehem; He eternally existed as God the Son, sharing the same divine essence with the Father and the Spirit. This tri-unity of God shows that God has always lived in perfect communion, complete in Himself, lacking nothing. He was never lonely, incomplete, or in need of companionship. He is self-existent, self-sufficient, and eternally satisfied within His own glorious being.

Because of this, creation was not born out of divine need, but out of divine will. God did not create because He lacked something, but because He lovingly chose to express His wisdom, power, and goodness. Through Jesus, the eternal Word, all things came into being—every star, every angel, every human life owes its existence to Him. Nothing exists apart from His creative authority. This means our lives are not accidental, and our worth is not self-generated; we exist because an all-sufficient God intentionally willed us into being. Creation, therefore, is not about filling a void in God, but about revealing the overflowing fullness of who He is.

PSALM 90:2 Before the mountains were born Or You gave birth to the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

This verse anchors our faith in the eternal nature of God by declaring that before anything physical came into existence—even before the mountains were formed and the earth was shaped—God already was. He is not a product of time, nor is He bound by it. While everything in creation has a beginning, God alone stands as the uncreated One, existing “from everlasting to everlasting.” Time began with creation, but God existed before creation; therefore, He stands above time, ruling over it, untouched by its limits or decay.

This truth assures us that the God we trust today is not temporary, unstable, or changing. He is the same eternal God who was present before the universe existed, who reigns now, and who will remain forever. Our lives may feel fragile and fleeting, but they are held in the hands of an everlasting God whose purposes never fail. Because He is eternal, His promises are secure, His love does not wear out, and His faithfulness will never run dry.

COLOSSIANS 1:16 For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.

This passage declares the absolute supremacy of Jesus by revealing that He is not only part of creation—He is its Creator. Everything that exists, whether seen or unseen, physical or spiritual, earthly or heavenly, came into being by Him, through Him, and for Him. This includes not only the material universe but even the invisible realm—angels, thrones, dominions, rulers, and authorities. Nothing lies outside His creative power and sovereign rule. Jesus stands before all things, above all things, and over all things.

This truth reshapes how we understand our lives. We are not here by chance, and we do not belong to ourselves. We were created through Christ and for Christ—for His glory, His purposes, and His pleasure. Our fulfillment is not found in self-centered living but in Christ-centered living. When our lives align with Him, we align with the very reason we exist. The One who created us also sustains us, redeems us, and lovingly calls us to live for Him.

REVELATION 4:11 “Worthy are You, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and because of Your will they existed, and were created.”

This passage lifts us into the throne room of heaven and shows us why God alone is worthy of all glory, honor, and power—because He is the absolute Creator of everything that exists. The phrase “You created all things” points to creation ex nihilo—creation out of nothing. Unlike human making, which always reshapes what already exists, God spoke and brought into existence what had never existed before. There was no raw material, no pre-existing substance—only the will and word of God. By His command, the universe sprang into being.

This means that everything—matter, energy, time, space, life, angels, and humanity—exists because God willed it to exist. We are not self-originating, self-sustaining, or self-sufficient; we are utterly dependent on Him. Our very breath is a gift, our existence a result of His will. That is why heaven declares Him worthy—not only because He saves, but because He is the Source of all that is. Our lives find their truest meaning when we live in worship, gratitude, and obedience to the God who made something out of nothing—and who lovingly chose that we should exist.

HEBREWS 11:3 By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.

This passage reminds us that the origin of the universe is not first understood through microscopes or equations, but through faith in the Word of God. It tells us that what we now see—galaxies, oceans, mountains, and human life—did not come from visible, pre-existing materials. They came into being because God spoke. His Word carried creative power, forming reality itself. This verse takes us back to Genesis 1:1 and shows that creation is not merely a scientific question—it is a spiritual decision.

Faith, therefore, is a choice. We choose whether we will trust God’s revelation or rely only on human reasoning. To believe “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” is to make a conscious decision to place our confidence in God’s Word. It is not blind faith—it is trusting the God who is eternal, truthful, and powerful. When we choose to believe Genesis 1:1, we are choosing to stand on the authority of God Himself, acknowledging Him not only as Creator, but as the rightful Lord of our lives.

ROMANS 1:19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21 For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools... 25 For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.

Romans 1 shows us that God has never left Himself without a witness. From the very beginning, creation itself has been preaching a silent but powerful sermon about God’s existence, His power, and His divine nature. The beauty, order, and complexity of the universe are not random accidents—they are God’s fingerprints. The heavens, the earth, and even human life all testify that there is a wise and powerful Designer behind everything that exists. In this sense, creation truly “screams” that God is real and that Somebody made us.

Yet Paul makes it clear that the real issue is not lack of evidence, but the condition of the heart. People did not reject God because they could not see Him; they rejected Him because they did not want to honor Him or thank Him. When gratitude disappeared, pride took its place. They exchanged worship of the Creator for confidence in themselves and devotion to created things. What looked like wisdom became foolishness, and what felt like freedom became spiritual darkness. This passage reminds us that believing is ultimately a moral and spiritual choice—we either humble ourselves before the Creator in thanksgiving and worship, or we elevate ourselves and slowly lose our spiritual clarity.

JEREMIAH 32:17 ‘Ah Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and by Your outstretched arm! Nothing is too difficult for You,

Jeremiah’s prayer in this verse brings everything we have been reflecting on into our daily life and struggles. The God who created the heavens and the earth by His great power is not a distant or abstract God—He is the same God who invites us to call on Him in our weakness. If He can speak galaxies into existence, then no situation we face is beyond His reach. Our problems may feel overwhelming, but they are never greater than the God who holds the universe in His hands.

This verse also reminds us that God’s power is always joined with His goodness and love. He is not only mighty—He is personal. He cares, He listens, and He acts on behalf of His people. So when trials come, we do not run in fear or despair; we run in faith. We rest in the truth that nothing is too difficult for Him, and we trust that the Creator of heaven and earth is also our loving Father, who works all things for our good.

Prayer

Almighty and Eternal God,

We come before You in awe and worship, for You are the everlasting God—from eternity to eternity You are God. Before time began, You already were. You are self-existing, self-sufficient, and complete in Yourself, yet in Your great love You chose to create the heavens and the earth through Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

We praise You, Lord, because all things were made by You, through You, and for You. You spoke, and out of nothing the universe came into being. The beauty of creation declares Your glory, Your power, and Your divine nature. Truly, You are worthy to receive all glory, honor, and power.

Forgive us, Lord, for the times we fail to honor You, when we forget to give thanks, and when we trust in ourselves instead of trusting in You. Guard our hearts from pride and from foolish thinking. Teach us to walk humbly before You, choosing faith, and standing firmly on Your Word.

Today we declare that we believe: In the beginning, You created the heavens and the earth. We choose to trust You. We choose to worship the Creator and not the created. We choose to live for Your glory.

And as we face our problems, our needs, and our uncertainties, we take comfort in this truth: nothing is too difficult for You. You are our big God—good, faithful, and full of love. We place every burden, every fear, and every unanswered question into Your mighty hands.

Thank You, Lord, for Your love, Your power, and Your faithfulness. All glory belongs to You alone.

In Jesus’ name,

Amen.
