COLOSSIANS 3:20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.
This teaches that a child’s obedience to parents is not merely about family order or discipline—it is an act of worship that pleases the Lord. God places parents as His appointed authority in a child’s life, entrusted with guidance, instruction, and protection. When children obey, they learn humility, respect for authority, and trust in God’s design for the family. This obedience reflects a heart that honors God, recognizing that following parental instruction is part of living under His lordship. While this command assumes parents are guiding their children in ways consistent with God’s will, the emphasis is clear: obedience within the family is a practical and daily way children can express their love for God and grow in godly character.
HEBREWS 13:17 Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.
This verse teaches that God establishes authority—such as spiritual leaders and parents—for our good. Submission and obedience are not meant to control or harm, but to protect, guide, and nurture us. Leaders and parents “keep watch” and will give an account to God, which means their role carries serious responsibility. When you obey your parents, it goes beyond simply following rules; it aligns you with God’s design for order and care. This kind of obedience brings blessing because it keeps you safe from avoidable harm, shapes your character with wisdom and humility, and positions you to receive God’s favor. When authority is honored, relationships are healthier, guidance becomes a joy rather than a burden, and the result is beneficial for you—both in your present life and in the future God is preparing for you.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
we thank You for Your loving wisdom in placing parents and leaders in our lives to guide, protect, and care for us. Teach our hearts to obey with humility and trust, not merely out of duty but out of love for You. Help us recognize that obedience brings blessing, wisdom, and peace, and that honoring authority pleases You. Give parents and leaders grace, patience, and faithfulness as they watch over those entrusted to them, knowing they will give an account to You. May our obedience bring joy and not burden, and may our lives reflect Your order, goodness, and favor—now and in the days to come.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.

By God’s grace, this website, The Message of God, was created to share His Word, encourage others in their faith, and lead people to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. God has uniquely designed and equipped every believer to take part in His work, and this website is one small expression of that calling.
All glory, honor, and praise belong to God alone. I am deeply grateful to Christ’s Commission Fellowship (CCF)—God’s instrument in helping me know Jesus personally and grow in a deeper, more intimate relationship with Him. The messages shared here are inspired by past CCF sermons, which have greatly influenced my walk with the Lord.
The ultimate purpose of this website is to point people to Jesus, encourage them to follow Him wholeheartedly, and remind every reader that a life surrendered to Christ is a life filled with purpose, grace, and joy.
